Welcome to the website for The Immigrant Education Society’s 2024 conference: Pathways to Inclusion: Community-Based Research in Immigration and Settlement.
The conference will take place at the Central Public Library in Calgary, AB, Canada on April 24-25, 2024, and is organized by the Research and Program Development department at The Immigrant Education Society (TIES). The conference will bring together leading experts, researchers, practitioners, community leaders, and newcomers to explore the following four areas of focus:
Climate Adaptation – Featuring research on the impact of climate change on immigrants and innovative strategies for enhancing resilience and adaptation in new environments.
Professional and Skilled Immigrant Supports – Featuring research on effective support systems, policies, and programs that enable successful workforce integration and career continuity, particularly among immigrant professionals.
Inclusion and Diversity in Immigrant Youth and Children – Featuring research on promoting inclusion and diversity among immigrant youth and children.
Education and Digital Literacy – Featuring research on accessible education and developing digital literacy for immigrants.

Townhall:
We’re inviting the Calgary community to join us for the Town Hall on April 24th from 3:00-4:00 pm at the Calgary Central Library. No ticket or registration will be required for this portion of the conference. Meet us in the Patricia A. Whelan Performance Hall to hear from local leaders in the immigrant and settlement sector.
Registration fees:
TIES Staff, TIES clients, and those under 18 years of age can attend the conference without providing registration fees. Register now!

TIES is located on the traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 region, which includes the Blackfoot Confederacy comprising the Siksika, Piikani and Kanai First Nations, the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda including the Chiniki, Bearspaw and Wesley First Nations. The City of Calgary is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III.
