Advanced Childhood Educator Training (ACET)

What is Advanced Childhood Educator Training (ACET)?

The program prepares TIES learners, who already have Level 1 Early Childhood Educator certification, to advance their careers in a wide variety of childcare settings.

Learners who complete the program successfully will be awarded an Early Childhood Education and Development certificate from BVC and will be eligible to apply for their Level 2 ECE certification through the Ministry of Children’s Services in Alberta. Learners will receive regular one on one support from TIES throughout the certificate program to ensure their success.

Support is available for students taking Calgary Transit to class.

This program includes:

• Occupational language training
• One on one employment counselling and mentoring
• Workplace training via onsite practicums
• Early Childhood Education and Development Certificate course

This program is offered in two parts:

1. Online classes offered every Tuesday (3 hours), and Thursday (3 hours) evening. 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
2. 27 weeks of unpaid practicum, which provides work experience in a childcare facility

ELIGIBILITY:

- Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 6 or higher

- Must be unemployed or under-employed

- Must not be receiving EI benefits

- Must be Permanent Resident

- Conventional Refugee

- Naturalized Canadian Citizen
