Happy Holidays from TIES

May your heart and home be filled with all the joys this winter season brings!

This month, TIES has kept busy with a number of holiday activities! Read on for some of our recent initiatives, fundraisers and celebrations.

Fill this Basket

Our Fill This Basket campaign, which funds gift baskets for newcomer & refugee children, wrapped up last week. Thanks to generous donations from TIES staff and the community, we were able to raise $1,495 this year!

More than 100 gift baskets will be distributed to children in our in our Care for Newcomer Children program, ages 12 months – 11 years. Each gift contains a book, a stuffed animal, and a toy.

Donations from the Calgary French & International School

The Calgary French and International School (CFIS) is an independent school providing French immersion and international education to over 1000 students from preschool to Grade 12.

For several years, senior high students at CFIS have purchased gifts for newcomers from one of our LINC classes and their families. This year, they contributed gifts for more than 60 newcomer clients and their children! Thank you CFIS!

Settlement Wishlist Support

As part of our ongoing commitment to settlement and integration, TIES prepared gifts for 20 newcomer families to promote community, wellbeing, and a sense of belonging in their new home. This was made possible thanks to support from our local business partners.

Special thanks goes to Marlborough Home Depot for their generosity towards this initiative!

TIES Christmas Parties

This time of year is a great opportunity to celebrate together. TIES held a number of parties for staff and students at all three of our locations. Much fun was had by all, including carolling, games, food, karaoke, and gifts.

Thank you for supporting us this year. See you in 2020!
