Friends of Haiti Canada donate computers for newcomers

The Calgary Immigrant Educational Society is pleased to announce that our allies at Friends of Haiti Canada have donated an incredible 51 laptops and computer accessories to our organization to better support newcomer education and empowerment. This gift of technology comes at an important time, as more immigrant professionals and families arriving in Canada require digital literacy skills to participate in social activities and the local economy.

“These devices will be used for the benefit of newcomers who are struggling to find a meaningful place in Canadian society” – Suman Khanal, Director of Employment and Settlement Programs.

The delivery of the donations was conducted by Dave Botterill, a previous director for Inn From The Cold and current Coordinator for Friends of Haiti Canada. On behalf of the staff and students at CIES, we thank Dave and Friends of Haiti Canada for their generous support and we look forward to working with them more in the future.
