FARM Partner Appreciation Event

Last week, on November 1st, TIES hosted a FARM Partner Appreciation event at the Alex Community Food Centre.

Foundations in Agricultural-based industries for Refugees and Migrants (FARM) offers Canadian agricultural training & paid practicum to newcomers.

The success of our practicum-based programs (including FARM) is largely thanks to our employer partners, who go out of their way to welcome newcomers into the workforce and offer valuable training to our clients.

The FARM Partner Appreciation Event was an opportunity to thank our partners, celebrate our successes, and discuss the next steps for FARM, which has reached the end of its final intake. We are hoping to secure additional funding to continue offering the program in 2020.

Cesar Suva, our Director of Research & Program Development, gave a presentation about FARM, followed by a speech by MLA Muhammad Yaseen, Parliamentary Secretary for Immigration. Participants enjoyed a delicious lunch provided by the Alex.
