Care for Newcomer Children (CNC) at Home

Online Activities for Kids & Families

On March 17, all of our services temporarily moved online, including the Care for Newcomer Children (CNC) program. Check out what CNC has been offering to newcomer families, and discover fun activities to do at home with your kids!

How is CNC connecting with kids online?

Our CNC team schedules regular video meetings with children in the program, based on their family’s availability. This includes: personalized interaction between CNC educators and families, and group calls with multiple children to promote social skills during this time of social distancing.

Here are some of the ways we’ve been connecting with families:

Arts & Crafts

The educator guides the child through a craft. The crafts are themed based on a lesson topic, including seasons, shapes, animals, current events, or life in Canada.

Nutrition & Well-Being

The educator asks the child what they ate for a snack that day. They encourage the child to eat healthy snacks, get active and develop healthy habits.

Music

The educator plays songs, sings, and dances with the child. This creates connection and fun for the child, while also learning through music.

Activities

The educator provides activities to encourage gross motor skills, literacy and numeracy.
