While CIES was proud to announce the winner of the inaugural Salim M. Sindhu Memorial Scholarship at our 30th Anniversary Gala on October 30th, we had the pleasure of presenting the award to our recipient in person this last Thursday, November 22. Congratulations to Raymund Sanchez!
A graduate of the Employment Skills Training program at CIES, Raymund chose to come to Canada from the Philippines alone, believing in the bright future that his hard work ethic would provide. With considerable determination, Raymund has gone on to establish himself as a business analyst in the IT industry, working for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo in northern Alberta.
“Being a newly-landed skilled immigrant, I have encountered the same obstacles met by almost everyone. Every one of us has their own story, their own tales to tell. Of hardships and tribulations, of success and triumphs. But what connects us is the same. It is the path we took as newly-landed immigrants here in this land. I am happy that I can say that CIES has been a part of that journey.”
