December is finally here! As we begin to celebrate the holidays and the end of the year, we’re pleased to showcase several cultural events and programs happening in Calgary this weekend. Find your next activity below!

Citizenship Study Classes

Saturday, December 2 / 10:00 am to 1:30 pm

Our partners at Immigrant Services Calgary will be offering another series in their successful two-session Citizenship study classes based on the study guide “Discover Canada”. This is held at the ISC office located at 910 7th Avenue SW. If you can’t make it this weekend, they’re also running weekday evening sessions next week. For only $10.00 it’s a great deal and a helpful way for immigrant learners to prepare for their Citizenship test, thanks to the generous support of Calgary Learns.

VegFest: Vegan Holiday Market

Saturday, December 2 / 11:00 am to 4:00 pm

As compassionate communities grow worldwide, so does the demand for events that celebrate positive change and bring the public together. This market will showcase several of Calgary’s leading Vegan and ethical companies. One of VegFest Calgary’s main goals is to support entrepreneurs that share our vision for improving local economy and environmental sustainability. This event is held at the Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association and admission is free.

Calgary Farmers’ Market: Christmas Market

Saturday & Sunday, December 2nd and 3rd / 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Find the very best from your favourite market vendors, plus seasonal vendors, offering Yuletide gifts, food, jewelry, décor and more. There will be plenty of activities from Santa and cookie decorating, Tea with Mrs. Claus, live ice carving, a Canadian Maple Shack, and more. Takes place at the Calgary Farmers’ Market, 510 77 Avenue Southeast. Admission and parking are free, but you’ll need tickets to share tea with Mrs. Claus!

ZOOLIGHTS with the Calgary Zoo

Until January 6, 2018 / 6:00pm to 9:00pm

Calgary’s brightest holiday tradition is back for its 20th year and is sure to be the most glow-tastic one yet. With 1.5 million lights, it takes about 90 minutes to see them all. We’re very excited to be attending ZOOLIGHTS with our students this coming December 7th and would like to see you there, but if you can’t go next week, check out ZOOLIGHTS this weekend for perfect family-friendly fun that gives back to animal conservation. Tickets are 14.95$ (general) or $11.95 for children. Parking is $10 or you can use public transit. If you own a Engage or Inspire Zoo Membership parking is free, and Engage members receive a onetime 50% discount whereas Inspire members receive unlimited access.
