Save the Date for Two Great Newcomer Employment Fairs

Save some room in your calendar, because there are two excellent employment fairs for newcomers coming up. Here are the details:

1. Newcomers Canada Calgary Settlement & Career Fair – April 22, 2017, BMO Centre @ Stampede Park

Price: Pre-register here before April 21, 2017 for free entry OR pay $10 on the day you arrive

Location: BMO Centre, Palomino Room – Calgary Stampede Park, 20 Roundup Way SE, Calgary 

Event date and time:  Saturday, April 22nd, 10 am – 4 pm

Food: Food is available to purchase from a concession stand in the Palomino Room from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm.

Details: This is Canada’s largest event for newcomers, and also the leading source of hiring foreign-born residents. Services available include: Visa and Immigration Advice, Career Services, Education and English Language Testing, Foreign Credential Assessment and Settlement Services. Companies you may meet at the fair include the Alberta Motor Association, Royal Roads University, the Calgary Local Immigration Partnership, and ATB Financial. 2. 2017 Your Future is Now Job Fair – April 24, 2017, Grandstand @ Stampede Park

This job fair kicks off a larger event called Alberta Works Week, which is a series of events across the province aimed at helping Albertans find employment. Click here for a complete list of events in Calgary for Alberta Works Week.

Price: Free

Location: Grandstand – Calgary Stampede Park, 3rd Street and 25th Avenue SE

Event date and time: Monday, April 24, 2017, 10 am – 4 pm

Details: This job fair aims to connect Canadians with potential employers to explore new employment opportunities. Examples of industries highlighted at the fair include financial services, health, agriculture, manufacturing, security, landscaping, retail, food services, and hospitality.

Information workshops will take place throughout the day, covering topics such as using social media in your job search, writing an impactful resume and cover letter, and how to prepare for a job interview.
